As we ready our FPL squads for the Gameweek 21 of the Premier League season, some players are naturally drawing our attention, be that due to an attractive cheap pricetag or indeed increased opportunity. Here, @FPLJesus brings us some players he believes are under-owned when both those factors are weighed, and also a few players who he feels are over-owned. Who should you buy, and who should you sell?
Over-owned – Sell
Dimitri Payet – £9.1m, 8.7% Owned
For his high price last years signing of the season has had an underwhelming FPL campaign. Owners might be satisfied with an assist every now and then but his team mate Michail Antonio has hit more points for over 2m less in the seasons first half raising question marks of his value to FPL managers.
Slaven Bilic confirmed in the week that Payet wants to leave the club and is refusing to play in the meantime which will be more than enough for FPL managers to ditch the Frenchman in droves, those keeping the faith will need a miracle at this point as the motivation for Payet seems to be heading back towards France.
Investment in a game changer is worth while as Payet’s 74 key passes this season may prove (no other midfielder has as many) but a game changer wearing a suit in the stands is useless. Ditch Payet and reinvest in a cheaper midfield option such as Theo Walcott or if you have the cojones to upgrade to Anthony Martial there is another french midfield option with match winning potential.

Alvaro Negredo – £6.4m, 15.5% Owned
It took 12 gameweeks for Negredo to score his second goal of the season after marking his Boro league debut with a goal in GW1. A lot of managers abandoned the striker but numbers began to rise again after a brace in GW13. However with a significant portion of the season passed, it is clear that Negredo is not a player managers will be able to trust week in week out.
A price as low as his is tempting for managers when a fixture looks good but based on just 5 goals in 20 gameweeks the argument for Negredo looks weak compared to someone like Jermaine Defoe on more than double the goals as a budget striker option. Negredo is the 8th top scoring striker in the FPL its worth pointing out, but i doubt he will be by the seasons end.

Nathan Ake – £4.4m, 9.2% Owned
If Nathan Ake was always your 5th defender the urgency to remove him is reduced compared to those who play him week in week out but there is no doubt his chance of future FPL points has been diminished by his recall to Chelsea.
Antonio Conte has hinted his planned position for Ake will be at centre back or left wing back inviting competition for Alonso and Terry/Cahill owners but since Chelsea have a sound back line it is assumed Ake will not be starting immediately in his new role.
It is easy to forget Ake lasted the full season on loan at Watford last season suggesting this seasons success may have taken influence from having a British manager or simply having greater responsibility in an arguably better side.
Chelsea will know they need to replace their ageing defenders by next season and in recalling Ake, they have gained a defender with Premier League experience, currently in form for a fraction of the cost of what a new player would. It is a no brainer from Conte’s point of view but creates a huge problem for the 9.2% owners who expected Ake to enjoy 90 minute spells in a Bournemouth side about to play a few decent fixtures.
It would be a shame to take a hit on the player but but if Ake is someone you need to remove due to owning 3 Chelsea players already, Maya Yoshida looks an easy replacement.
Under-owned – Buy
Maya Yoshida- £4.2m, 0.4% Owned
Since Jose Fonte has requested a transfer, manager Claude Puel has confirmed his preference would be to leave the captain out of the squad.
This leaves the door open for Yoshida to feature more for Southampton in the upcoming fixtures. The Saints are up against Burnley, Leicester, West Ham, Swansea and Sunderland in the next 5 gameweeks and with none of the top teams found amongst that list, it seems essential to pick up a Saints option for month ahead.
In Yoshida managers can jump on a serious differential at a low cost which is hard to argue against it at this moment particularly when the next cheapest option in the Saints back line is 0.4m dearer and most popular Van Dijk is 1.4m
Dele Alli – £8.5m, 17.2% Owned
Spurs are in great form of late but Alli himself has hit points even his owners will be surprised at. A truly outstanding recent haul of 7 goals in his last 4 games and from just 8 shots have seen the player rise significantly in price and ownership in recent weeks.
Of course the form is unsustainable but with Spurs hunting down a top 4 spot their fixtures appear easier than a couple of their rivals going forward. This gives merit to the long term validity of signing Alli despite missing the points from his match winning exploits.
The upcoming fixture against West Brom will invite recruiters to invest this week while only Man City and Liverpool look like tough opposition amongst the next 10 fixtures.
At 17.2% owned its hard to describe the midfielder as being under owned, but as his price and ownership rises the option to eventually downgrade him to the returning Phillipe Coutinho remains if Alli fails to maintain the form.
Nacho Monreal – £5.9, 4.0% Owned
Arsenal face Swansea in GW21 before two consecutive home games against Burnley and Watford in GWs 22 and 23, which are clearly good fixtures on paper.
While Monreal isn’t a glamorous FPL option he is the cheapest entry into Arsenals defence and nailed on as a starter. It seems an inviting three week move despite Arsenal keeping just one clean sheet in their last 11 league games, and while his price is still not as cheap as many would hope to spend for their defence, they’d be backing arguably one of the best back lines in the league.
