Hello Readers, Welcome to my “Armband Warrior” Analysis for Game week 7. GW6 opened the floodgates for FPL managers to garner heavy points with Kane, Lacazette scoring braces, Lukaku with a solitary goal, Aguero with a goal and assist but the game week belonged to Chelsea’s new signing Alvaro Morata who banged a hat trick and returned a 17 pts haul. No one could actually complain about last week’s score and a quality captain this week could put an even bigger smile on their faces going into the international break.
I feel that this game week will be a low scoring one specially from the forwards standpoint. Therefore, I have a preference for a midfielder as my captain pick this weekend.. Eriksen, Alli, Mkhitaryan, Coutinho all are strong contenders for the role, but the one who can really stand out purely on based on the consistency of his recent performances, is Spanish midfielder David Silva. Let’s see how giving him the Armband can score you big points in GW7 and help you in the Overall Ranking.
Silva has been in sensational form in his last 4 games for Manchester City, both in the Premier League and Champions League. Two 11 pts returns in his last two games against Watford (Away) and Crystal Palace (H) has put him ahead of all midfielders. He is yet to score a goal but has made that up by providing 6 assists which is higher than Mkhitaryan’s tally of 5. His form index of 8.3 is only less than his teammate Leroy Sane and high flying Brighton midfielder, Pascal Gross. His ICT index of 68.2 looks promising for people who want their players to be involved in most of the game and goal scoring opportunities.
Silva has started in all 6 games for Manchester City and bosses the midfield battle for Pep Guardiola. A total of 8 bonus points makes him a very lucrative captain option, even for those who are slow to captain a midfielder. He has garnered 2 bonus points each in 4 game weeks and only failed to register bonus pts against Liverpool (H) and Everton (H).
Manchester City will face the reigning champions this week, who obviously possess a very good defense. But this type of game actually gets the best out David Silva, his slick passes and vision to pick out goalscoring opportunities has been extremely beneficial to the success of Pep Guardiola’s system this season. Expect the usual goal threats to be marked tightly and this will give Silva an opportunity to surprise Chelsea. With an average of 3.9 key passes per game and 91% pass completion rate he is bound to get involved in goal scoring opportunities. City is in ominous form, if their forwards and wingers can get on the end of Silva’s pin point passes and through balls then rest assured Silva will again come out with a double digit score.
David Silva in the Premier League this season:
- Most chances created (23)
- Most assists (6)
Pep Guardiola has changed the system from last year and this is clearly giving David Silva the kind of freedom which is helping him perform better. In all of last season, Silva managed 7 assists, while already this season he is only one behind that total.
So I am going with David Silva as Armband Warrior for GW 7. Banking on some secured points and additional 2 points everytime he is involved in a City goal is too tempting to ignore right now.
Wish you all a happy game week. Keep following @fplwarriors and @fanfeud for more FPL related news!
