As seasoned fantasy football players, ideally we all like to plan our team for the next 5 games taking into consideration the player’s talent, upcoming fixture list and…. and their likelihood of availability. But right now, one thing which should be central to our planning is to know who those players are leaving for the AFCON. Let’s have a look at which Premier League clubs are set to be worst hit by a temporary loss of players from early January until as late as 5th February 2017.
These are the key PL players who will be absent:
Arsenal: Mohamed Elneny (Egypt)
Bournemouth: Benik Afobe (DR Congo)
Crystal Palace: Wilfried Zaha (Ivory Coast)
Everton: Idrissa Gueye (Senegal)
Leicester City: Daniel Amartey (Ghana), Riyad Mahrez (Algeria), Jeffrey Schlupp (Ghana), Islam Slimani (Algeria)
Liverpool: Sadio Mané (Senegal)
Manchester United: Eric Bailly (Ivory Coast)
Southampton: Sofiane Boufal (Morocco)
Stoke: Wilfried Bony (Ivory Coast), Mame Biram Diouf (Senegal)
Sunderland: Lamine Koné (Ivory Coast).
West Ham: Andre Ayew (Ghana).
Most of the names on the list are bench fodder at best (Lamine Kone I am looking at you) but there are some big hitters there too. Sadio Mane has already suffered a pricedrop with one more gameweek of Premier League action to go, as his owners bail on him to avoid losing squad value.
The luckiest teams which will not face the heat of AFCON are Chelsea,Tottenham Hotspur & Manchester City. Leicester City and West Ham will be most impacted teams as 3-4 of their first team players will depart for AFCON. So plan your team accordingly and I wish you all Arrows of GREEN.
