We all love FPL, but that is not to say we cannot have our fun elsewhere too! Where FPL is a strong marriage which values commitment, perseverance, and not a little patience, her flirty cousin DFS is a different creature altogether. Visit for the weekend, don’t call for a month and she will still welcome you back with open arms as though you had never been away!

Sportito.co.uk is a Daily Fantasy Sports site which offers managers in the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland and Brazil the chance to play fantasy games based around their favourite leagues and players… and win real CASH! This weekend it is all about the Premier League and so we are putting our fantasy knowledge to good use, and picking a player you NEED to pick at each position in your Sportito… and indeed FPL lineups.

In Goal, Thibaut Courtois

On Sportito, the only player who LOSES points when his team concedes is the goalkeeper, therefore clean sheets are THE primary concern for managers when choosing their keeper. As there is no salary cap on Sportito, we are free to choose any shotstopper we like, and this weekend the choice is between Thibaut Courtois of Chelsea and David De Gea from Man United, as both are playing at home in games they are strongly favourite to win. We are going for the Belgian, with Burnley possessing less bite in attack than West Ham, who are the visitors to Old Trafford. We fancy Chelsea to keep a clean sheet as they begin the season in customary steamroller fashion.

In Defence, Danilo

When Manchester City splurged the national debt of a small country on their defence this summer, you might have been forgiven for thinking it would be on a phenomenal centrehalf, given their woes in that department last season. However, it was in fact on THREE fullbacks that Pep Guardiola spent his Sheik’s cash, with Kyle Walker, Benjamin Mendy and Danilo all arriving at the club. An injury to Mendy means that Danilo will be the first choice fullback on the left of the defence as the Citizens travel to Brighton, and he is our tip for selection in your defensive formation. Explosive in attack, and with City likely to have a lot of the possession against the Premier League newboys… he will be forward more often than most wingers. Put him in your lineup and reap the rewards.

In Midfield, Paul Pogba

Much is expected of Frenchman Paul Pogba this season. His struggles last campaign were largely attributed to his acclimatisation to the league, and to the tactics of manager Jose Mourinho. The purchase of Nemanja Matic from Chelsea is expected to free up Pogba more in attack, even playing behind Romelu Lukaku as a supporting striker. If he is given that role, his potential returns are enormous on a weekly basis. With speed, skill, an explosive shot, and now the freedom to influence games further up the field, Pogba could emerge as the best midfielder in the country and fulfill the hopes of the United hierarchy who were willing to empty the coffers to achieve his signature from Juventus last summer.

In Attack, Manolo Gabbiadini

One of the greatest disappointments for Fantasy managers last season was the performance of Italian Manolo Gabbiadini in the closing gameweeks. With the golden chalice of a double double-gameweek, he flopped spectacularly and disappointed the thousands of FPL managers who had retained him in the hopes of a great end to the season. This summer however has seen Gabbiadini shine in the Saint’s preseason games and, while preseason can show a false dawn, it can also provide a clue as to a player bouncing back. Against Swansea City, who have done little over the break to improve their terrible defence, he has a great opportunity to kick on and start the 2017/18 season as he means to go on. He is well worth the punt against the Swans, and if he scores you will be laughing all the way to the bank.
