The upcoming weekend sees the Premier League return to the FA Cup and that gives all fantasy football managers extra time to look at their FPL lineup… and feel temptation make early transfers and even to hit that second Wildcard button. As always, we advise holding on to that wildcard for as long as possible. When blank gameweeks come up, and the corresponding double gameweeks, you will want the flexibility they give you.

With the transfer window open until 31st of January, we want to bring you up to date with the recent transfers which might either directly or indirectly impact you in your quest to steer your team to the top of your mini-league. Some players have jumped ship in order to get consistent game time with Saido Berahino finally getting out of West Brom and moving to Stoke City, while Jeffery Schlupp has left the champions for pastures new with Crystal Palace.

Middlesbrough have strengthened their attacking options with Patrick Bamford re-joining the club from Chelsea but now on a permanent deal, and also Aston Villa striker Rudy Gestede who has made a quick return to the Premier League. West Ham have tightened up their back line with the signing of Jose Fonte from Southampton and questions remain over star player Dimitri Payet, and whether or not he will ever pull on a Hammers jersey again.
Relegation stricken Swansea City have a third manager at the helm this season, with the highly-rated Paul Clement who worked alongside Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, taking charge. He made an immediate impact with an excellent win away to Liverpool at the weekend, and he has also recruited Tom Carroll from Tottenham and the talented winger Luciano Narsingh from PSV as he tries to beat the drop.
Manchester City have finally registered Gabriel Jesus and will hope the skillful Brazilian can hit the ground running. Other signings that might interest; Morgan Schneiderlin has ended his nightmare at Old Trafford and gone to Everton, Leicester have signed Wilfried Ndidi from Genk and Jake Livermore has moved from Hull City to West Brom.
Another reason to keep hold of that wildcard is the players returning from the African Cup of Nations. Already defending champions Ivory Coast have been knocked out at just the group stage and will see the likes of Eric Bailly, Lamine Kone, Wilfried Zaha and Wilfried Bony return to their Premier League clubs.
Also on their way back is Riyad Mahrez and Islam Slimani after Algeria failed to make the quarter finals. Liverpool fans will have to wait a little longer for the return of Saido Mane as Senegal are into the next stage and are now favourites to lift the trophy. So fantasy mangers, keep hold of that wildcard, be patient and get ready to lay it all out when the time is right.
