Hello Folks. I am sure most of you had a decent kick off in GW1 and those who did not, reassure yourself in the knowledge that there are 37 gameweeks to go. Whether you are trying to keep up your momentum, or make up for a poor week, one decision that has maximum impact on your FPL team’s fate is who to give the Captain armband?

My three picks to be “Top Gun” in GW2 are: Lukaku, Lacazette and Mounie

Romelu Lukaku, Manchester United

A spectacular performance against West Ham on his debut “2 Goals & 3 bonus points” makes him the obvious choice for the armband going into GW2. The increasingly indispensable Belgian’s stats against teams other than Top 6 in previous season has been impeccable and given the supply at United he is bound to score against Swansea.

– Form: 13 Pts, 2 Goals and 3 BPS

– Shots taken: 5

– Chances Created: 3

– On Penalties: Yes

– Current Ownership: 51.8%

– History with Opponent Team: Average record against Swansea

It’s a safe option to go with Lukaku as he is owned by almost 50% of FPL Managers and can protect your OR.
Armband Rating: 7/10

Alexandre Lacazette, Arsenal

The newly recruited Frenchman did a decent job on his debut and looks lively whenever on the pitch. A solitary goal was icing on the cake for those who chose him over Gabriel Jesus in the same price bracket. Arsenal’s fixtures are just tailormade for Laca to fire. His 28 goals last season with Lyon is only lesser to Harry Kane and Wenger’s tenacity when seeking to acquire his services only indicates that he is a real deal. Now coming into a game against Stoke City (A) can prove to be a real test for Arsenal’s hitman but his impressive stats and Stoke’s propensity to concede against pacey teams suggest that Lacazette may end up with a double digit score.

– Form: 6 Pts, 1 Goal, 0 BPS

– Shots taken: 3

– Chances Created: 3

– On Penalties: Yes

– Current Ownership: 18%

– History with Opponent Team: Stoke City, none.

Lacazette is one of the players in Top 5 who has scored 20+ goals in each of their last 3 seasons. As a perfect poacher in opponent’s penalty box expect Laca to delight his owners.
Armband rating: 9/10

Steve Mounie, Huddersfield

Mounie is the striker who actually set the cat among FPL Managers after scoring a brace against Crystal Palace. Where everyone was awaiting FPL returns from Zaha or Benteke, Mounie surprised all of them and helped Wagner to register 3 points and eventually top the table till Man Utd played. We do not have much stats to talk about the striker apart from his 14 goals with Montpellier last season.

But he has a phenomenal record when it comes to scoring from headers and he will be playing at home against Newcastle who has lost 2 defenders already in first game. So we can expect Mounie to continue his streak against a weakened Rafa Benitez side.

– Form: 12 Pts, 2 Goals, 3 BPS

– Shots taken: 3 Shots on Target: 2

– On Penalty: May be

– Current Ownership: 3%

With a decent Threat Rate and ICT index Mounie is someone you must catch early who can give you decent return again this game week.

Armband Rating: 8/10

My recommendation? I would recommend going with Arsenal’s hitman this week given the form, fixture and expected returns. ALEXANDRE LACAZETTE !
